The Alamo Drafthouse is a topic of the morning. Apparently, the owners are being forced out of downtown, due to the the rising property values. The owner of the Drafthouse, Tim League, and his wife have started a foundation to preserve this cinema as an icon. The Heroes of the Alamo Foundation is their attempt to preserve the local theatre. In their explanation, you will find that they are not the only business facing skyrocketing property costs in Austin.New Conversation Our conversations on aviation and g-force started while talking about an increase in fear of heights that Rob and I attribute to age. As an example of a moment of pause related to height, Ray reflected on his climb of the The Lost Arrow. Saturday, July 01, 2006

The next step was Equinix. We spent four hours unloading servers and parts. We found ourselves without several small, but key elements of racking the servers. Of course, the workers at the data facility made it impossible to get anything done due to their requirement of a service ticket for each step in the process. Equinix required one service ticket to run a cross-connect between us and a service provider. But connecting the cross-connect to the known port on the provider net required a separate ticket. Now, the service provider instigated the ticket., gave the port number and all of the information necessary to establish the cross-connect. That just isn't enough. So now we are waiting for that to be completed. We spent four hours in the data center. From 10:30PM to 2:30AM. We didn't return to the hotel until 3:00 AM. I didn't wake up until 8:30 this morning. Now I am twiddling my thumbs waiting for the moment at which we are prepared to leave. Chris is busy typing a discussion with work colleagues and filing an expense report. After that, I hope we are going to find some breakfast. Wednesday, February 15, 2006
